A performance-driven football field lighting solution designed to enhance visibility, flexibility, and long-term reliability, while elevating the Friday night game-day experience for athletes and the community.
Mohawk High School’s football field is a central part of school life and community engagement, hosting regular practices, competitive games, and high-energy Friday night events. As usage increased, the school saw an opportunity to modernize its field lighting with a system that could support the demands of football play while also creating an atmosphere that matched the importance of game day.
The objective was to improve on-field visibility and safety, while introducing flexibility for special events and future needs. Rather than treating the project as a basic lighting replacement, the focus was on delivering a complete football field lighting system—one designed around performance, control, and long-term usability.
IKIO worked collaboratively with the project team and installation partner to help shape a solution that addressed both the technical demands of football lighting and the broader experience of players, coaches, and spectators.
The football field was upgraded with a 48-fixture athletic lighting system, including RGB-capable field luminaires engineered for high-performance sports applications. All fixtures were supplied with IntegrixSystem TM (Integrated drivers), supporting long-term reliability and helping simplify system maintenance.
The system was paired with Synapse wireless controls, providing flexible operation and the ability to create dynamic lighting scenes for games and special events. Lighting, drivers, and controls were designed to function as a unified system, ensuring consistent performance while allowing the field to adapt easily to different uses throughout the season.
By taking a system-level approach, the solution balanced athletic performance requirements with enhanced presentation and ease of operation.

Project coordination was led by Rodrigo Sales, with installation completed by Optiva Lighting and Electrical Services. The installation was carried out under challenging conditions, including standing snow, rain, and wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Despite these constraints, the entire project was completed in three days, reflecting strong coordination and execution across all parties involved.
Close collaboration between system planning, controls integration, and field installation ensured the lighting system was operational as intended from day one.
